The Synopsis
Set in 1970’s Paris, “Christina’s Legacy” starts off as a tale of new growth, but soon develops into a twisted vine. For Frank and James, two struggling artists from the UK, things are looking up. In a world of chic restaurants and morning croissants, where the river Seine glitters bright in the sunshine, they have secured a job share which not only allows them to pay the bills, but gives them each three days a week to spend on the West Bank painting.
It gets even better when they meet demure Parisian shop girls Nina and Louise. The young and carefree Frank and Nina become firm friends, whilst wary and reserved divorcees James and Louise slowly discover that the heart does heal and love can blossom again.
However, cracks soon start to appear upon this smooth façade of optimism. Having lived the last ten years of his life in self-doubt, James is unable to control his insecurity and paranoia, and matters are made worse by Nina’s overwhelming protectiveness of Louise. Things soon spiral out of control as differences are realised.
At the very last, a glimmer of hope appears on the horizon when James discovers that a cruel trick played on him by his ex wife is the route of all his problems, and the ghosts that had haunted him are gone in an instant. With new heart and a clear head he sets about making things right with Louise, but he is too late. Unable to bear her friend’s suffering any longer, Nina poisons Louise in a crime of passion and all four friends are left with nothing. Nina looses her liberty, Frank looses his friend, Henry looses his lover and Louise loses her life.
